Types Of Braces

There is a difference that leads to faster, more comfortable treatment! At Olson Orthodontics, we use the most advanced technologies and treatment techniques to make treatment as comfortable and efficient as possible, often without the need for tooth extractions or expanders. Like our cars and cell phones, braces and clear aligners come in many 'makes and models, and not all braces are equal. We offer our patients affordable payment options so everyone can benefit from today's latest advancements in orthodontic care.

Damon Brackets – Metal and Clear

With modern Damon System brackets, the days of being in uncomfortable braces for years with headgear and expanders are long gone. Dr. Dwight Damon created Damon braces, and they use a sliding-door technology to hold the wire in a place called "self-ligation." Traditional braces tie-down and bind the wire with elastic or steel ties that can discolor, attract bacteria, and even break or poke a patient. Since the wire moves the teeth, these ties can create friction and require greater force.

Traditional braces tie the wire down with elastic ties that cause friction and trap plaque.

Damon braces hold the wire in place with a door that allows the wire to slide with less force.

Damon's self-ligating braces allow the wire to slide within the bracket, efficiently creating less friction and greater patient comfort. Damon braces often reduce both treatment time and the number of appointments that are usually performed. Additionally, Damon braces can expand and broaden smiles in patients of any age, so in most cases, extra appliances like expanders are not.

Key Features

  • NO extractions
  • NO expander
  • Only 17 months of treatments

With the ability to correct even severe crowding gently, permanent teeth rarely need to be extracted with the Damon System. These advantages can save patients time and money and avoid unnecessary pain and discomfort. For fast, comfortable treatment that produces amazing smiles, we use only the Damon System. Well-aligned teeth not only give you a more confident smile but also provide for optimal oral health:

  • Easier cleaning
  • Improved oral hygiene
  • Improved gum health
  • Decreased risk of abnormal wear and trauma

Damon Clear Brackets

Clear brackets are made of a clear ceramic material and, therefore, less noticeable. Since the wire is held in place by the bracket itself with Damon clear braces, no elastic steel ties are needed that can discolor, so patients can confidently enjoy drinks like tea and coffee. Clear braces are most popular with adult and teen patients due to their aesthetic appearance and cosmetic appeal.

It's never too late to be concerned about your teeth alignment, but the ADA suggests that an assessment be done around the age of seven. The sooner the problem is acknowledged, the quicker it can be resolved. Straightening your teeth can significantly benefit having a healthy mouth and keeping your teeth for life. If you or your child do not have the smile you desire, you can easily schedule an appointment to learn more about your possibilities. Orthodontics are treated here at our office by a local orthodontist, Dr. Olson. Start the road to a healthy mouth today and inquire today for an appointment.
